Planes
World War I was the first war to used planes. At first, they were designed only for spying work and also to deliver bombs. But the planes eventually became fighter aircraft armed with huge artilleries, like machine guns, sometimes cannons and bombs. When there was two planes fighting in the sky, the fight became known as "dogfights".
Perhaps the planes weren't very effective or accurate, everybody used them. As World War I progressed, the planes could hold more bombs. Towards the end of the war there were planes that could hold two or three bombs each. There were lots of different plane types. But the basic and main ones were:
